Apple’s fall conference was packed with new product announcements. First among them are the next generation iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro.  The base model comes with an attractive glass design, a choice of six colors, a 6.1-inch display, a spacial audio sound field, a dual camera system allowing for wider photos, a night mode for brightening photos taken in the dark and, what the company claims is, the highest quality video ever available in a smartphone.

The iPhone 11 Pro is even more advanced, with the highest pixel density of any prior Apple phone, a super display, machine learning accelerators, better battery capacity, water resistance and something called Filmic Pro App, which allows for making multiple videos at once in different directions.

The iPhone 11 will sell for $699 while the iPhone 11 Pro will sell for $999.

Another featured product was the Apple Watch that the company claims is helping people with health research. Multiple, ongoing studies include:

  • A hearing study researching how daily sound experiences influence long-term hearing health.
  • A women’s health study that focuses on how menstrual cycles influence infertility and osteoporosis.
  • A heart and movement study that monitors the heart to understand its influence on overall human health.

Apple’s research promises users the right to data privacy.

Apple Watch Series 5 offers several new safety features including fall detection and international emergency calling. The Series 5 Apple Watch starts at $399. The Series 3 is still available at a lowered price of $199.

The 7th generation iPad comes with a large 10.2-inch display with 3.5 million pixels, a wider viewing angle for photos and claims to be two times faster than top selling PCs.

On the content front, trailers for the Apple TV Plus program lineup where shown to what was reported to be a great response. Many of the shows will be available starting November 1st for $4.99 per month.

The company also revealed a new subscription service for accessing games, editorial content and personalized recommendations called Apple Arcade. It will be available starting on Sept. 19th for $4.99 a month – with a one-month free trial.   You’ll have to raid the piggy bank for all these toys.

October is right around the corner. Dust off the Halloween decorations, put the final touches on the costumes and get ready for all the scary movies coming to television and streaming services. While the common Halloween activities are fun, there’s nothing quite like playing a scary video game. The interactive unpredictability of a scary video game is unmatched compared to watching a scary movie. Ever had a zombie sneak up out of nowhere and bite you in Resident Evil?  If you have, you know what we mean. In honor of Halloween, we take a look at the top 5 scary video games and series.

1. Resident Evil Series

Long time no see! This series is the epitome of an interactive scary video game. You’re fighting off challenging zombies with various weapons you’ve picked up throughout your survival adventure and you’re finding herbs to heal wounds. Tip: Be careful when walking around corners.

2. Read Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare

A little twist from the regular Read Dead series, this edition features zombies … what else?! The zombies are incredibly real looking even though zombies technically aren’t real. These zombies have serious speed and make crazy sounds. Enjoy with the lights off if you dare.

3. Blair Witch

You saw the movie, now you get to play the video game. Travel through the rigors of Black Hills Forest with your trusty steed as a police officer named Ellis.

4. Silent Hill 2

Sequels are rarely better than the original, but in this case, Silent Hill 2 challenges that belief. It’s an old game, but it never seems to get old. Spooky scenery, disturbing characters, creepy sounds, tricky puzzles and mazes, Silent Hill 2 will keep you up late for all the right and wrong reasons.

5. Call of Duty Series (Zombie Mode)

Zombies seem to be a common across this list and why not, they’re scary! The zombie game mode of this first person shooter can go on forever depending on how well your squad sets up. The scariest part might be when you must start back at level one after hours upon hours of work / play.

Celebrities, like the rest of us, don’t always get along. For us common folk, the offenses usually stay between us. Not so with famous people. Lately, a long simmering feud between Dywane Johnson and his former Fast & Furious co-stars resurfaced when Johnson was out promoting his F&F spinoff called Hobbs and Shaw. Tyrese Gibson, one of his F&F co-stars, went public with noise about the movie’s relatively low opening weekend box office…the lowest opening for the franchise since 2006.  Apparently, the friction goes back to 2016 when the Rock first criticized co-star Vin Diesel on Instagram and re-emerged when the Hobbs & Shaw shooting schedule forced a delay of the next Fast & Furious shooting schedule. Of course, the opening weekend in the US is a big deal, but with these high-adventure films, global numbers can matter more, which gave Dwayne Johnson his response.  It turns out that so far H & S has earned more than $700 million worldwide, fifth best of the franchise.  Don’t mess with The Rock.

Spotify is among the top three applications for streaming and sharing music, having grown significantly in recent years. That makes being associated with it appealing for other applications.  Instagram and Facebook already have options for users to broadcast the song(s) they’re currently jamming to.  Now Snapchat is joining the party.

Spotify is happy with the new relationship saying, “With Spotify, you can listen to your favorite music and podcasts anytime, anywhere. With Snapchat, you can share what you’re up to instantaneously. Soon you’ll be able to combine the two seamlessly and share what you’re listening to in a Snap story.” Here’s how it will work: Users will share their songs to Snapchat via Spotify. To begin with, there will not be a reverse share feature like Instagram has. Users will load a Spotify song into their Snap story and viewers will see the song thumbnail that links to the song on Spotify’s platform. There have been several third party hacks that let you share Spotify songs on Snapchat, but this one will be the real thing.

Every football fan’s favorite Monday night of the year is week 1 of the NFL season where ESPN’s Monday Night Football has not one, but two feature games to open the season. Unfortunately, for ESPN, the start of the first game was not positive. Their new scoreboard graphic was roundly criticized. Throughout the first half of the New Orleans Saints – Houston Texan game, fans took to Twitter destroying the new scoreboard graphic which featured a yellow background where the down & distance is found. The color yellow, which usually signals there was a flag on the play, flashed after every play when the down and distance changed. People were confused and bothered enough to tweet. Despite the original mistake, give them credit, ESPN adjusted. Mid-game, the production team put a new background in place and launched it live for the second half.  Order was restored to down & distance and fans were no longer confused about whether or not there was a flag on the previous play.
Contemporary life is surrounded by technology. For most of us, we have gotten so used to computers, cell phones and electricity that we feel like we could never live without them. Despite how useful these machines are, the technologies that we use in our daily lives are not danger free. Here’s one quick story about a cell phone charger to highlight the point. A teenager from Colorado received an Anker PowerCore charger from Amazon, a gift from his grandmother.  How nice. The teen settled downstairs to do some homework when he heard a frightening noise.  He looked down to see that his backpack was on fire. Acting quickly, he grabbed the bag, ran upstairs and threw the bag outside while his mother grabbed the fire extinguisher. He later said he was alerted when “I heard a fuse for like a firecracker firework go off.” The only injury in this case was that the charger burned a hole in the backpack. For its part, Anker requested that the charger be returned and said it would reimburse the family. The Consumer Product Safety Commission has documented several complaints about these types of chargers.  We’ve also heard of similar spontaneous combustion fires started from lithium-ion batteries in cars and laptops.  Lesson: Be aware of your electronic products and act quickly if you see smoke or flame.
Ozuna’s rise to the top of the music industry has been lightening fast. He ascended from nowhere to the top of reggaeton and trap music internationally. A lot of his success can be traced to his following on You Tube, where his view numbers are off the charts. The Puertorriqueno’s success from his first two albums, Odisea (2017) and Aura (2018), has landed him in the Guiness Book of World Records. Here are the additional accomplishments Ozuma has earned in his short career:
  • Male artist with the most weeks at number one on Billboard‘s Top Latin Albums chart – Odisea, which logged 46 non-consecutive weeks from September 2017 tthru 1 September 2018.
  • Most Billboard Latin Music Award wins for a single artist in a single year – 11 awards.
  • Most Billboard Latin Music Award nominations for a single artist in a single year – 23 nominations
  • Artist with the most video views on YouTube – one billion
Ozuna is only 27 years old. When considering the fact that Daddy Yankee, the consensus king of reggaeton, is 42 years old, Ozuna still has a lot of career left to leave his mark. He’s most known stateside for his feature role on ‘Taki Taki’, a song which includes Cardi B and Selena Gomez among other big time artists. Ozuna sold out his U.S. tour this past year and is expected to release his next album before the end of 2019.

Movies made by Marvel Cinematic Universe tend to be high impact films that drive the summer blockbuster season.  That’s the reason why Marvel films and actors tend to make so much money. Here’s a quick list of the ten richest Marvel actors.

Chris Pratt plays a leading role in Guardians of the Galaxy as Star-Lord in a role that helped him win a completely new level of fame. The popular actor has helped make this little-known comic story into an incredible film success. Outside the Marvel world, Pratt is the main actor in the Jurassic World series and also plays Emmet in the Lego films. Pratt is one of the fastest growing names in Hollywood and has a substantial net worth of approximately $40 million.

Jeremy Renner may not have been the focus of the Marvel films he starred in, but his role as Hawkeye has helped boost his net worth to about $50 million. Jeremy has been in all but one of the Avengers films and yet only in Avengers: End Game did Renner have a substantial role. It was in this film that he clearly showed us how great the Hawkeye character could be; furthermore, his emotional encounter with Black Widow was a scene stealer.

Chris Evans has portrayed heroic moral goodness as the Avenger leader ever since the beginning of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Chris was the perfect Captain America.  Although Evans’ time as Captain America came to an end and the cloak was passed on during Avengers: End Game, his time in that role was memorable, helping him reach a net worth of about $50 million.

Paul Rudd spent most of his acting career earning his impressive fortune in the range of $70 million through comedy films. That’s why it was surprising hear his name when it was first announced as Ant-Man.  Rudd played an important role in Avengers: End Game and has two Ant-Man films of his own. His comedic approach greatly helped his films stand out from the crowd.

Perhaps nobody on this list has ever worked harder to get a miracle film going than Ryan Reynolds did with Deadpool. The popular actor had a strong desire to play this character. When Reynolds finally managed to get the R-rated movie off the ground, it immediately became a hit for Marvel. This helped Reynolds, the voice of Pickachu, to increase his net worth to about $75 million.

Chris Hemsworth has starred in countless films from Rush to the latest movie Men in Black. He also played Thor in both his own films and in the Avengers films. Thor is one of the most powerful characters in the series and Hemsworth has done an incredible job in this role by giving it both a serious and comedic tone.  All together Hemsworth has accumulated a net worth of about $90 million.

Bradley Cooper is the voice behind the incredibly popular Rocket Racoon character, a member of Guardians of the Galaxy who also appeared in the Avengers franchise. Cooper has an incredible career, from the Hangover series to Silver Linings Playbook to A Star is Born, in which he wrote, directed and acted. From all of his great, high earning movies he’s earned a fantastic net worth of in the neighborhood of $100 million.

Hugh Jackman’s role as Wolverine really put this veteran on the map for the adventure audience. He has played this role countless times. Jackman has since withdrawn from the role, but not before he left a huge mark on the Marvel world.  His total career in film and on stage has yielded a net worth of approximately $100 million.

One thing Marvel never fails to have female actresses in their films, mostly in secondary roles. But that’s not the case with Scarlett Johansson, who portrayed the brilliant Black Widow in countless Marvel films.  Johansson is first and foremost a safe name in Hollywood. She is box office royalty.  She can carry a Marvel film. All of which has made her a wealthy woman with a net worth estimated to be $140 million. Scarlett Johansson topped the list of the richest female actresses this year. Who is the undisputed king of miracle superhero films? The answer might be Robert Downey Jr. with an incredible net worth of about $300 million; Robert Downey Jr. has created an incredible career, much of it through his role in the Iron Man franchise. Marvel gambled by hiring Robert Downey Jr. who had had years of addiction issues.  They had to believe those years were in his past – they were and he proved them right.

Antonio Brown’s offseason with the Oakland Raiders has been as well documented as any story in the news this year. From his frostbitten feet, to threatening to retire over a helmet, then threatening to punch his general manager and then posting a controversial video to YouTube, Brown had driven the Raiders officially insane. So they released him and in the process managed to recoup all of his $29 million dollars of guaranteed money. That happened Saturday morning after it was rumored Brown would be suspended for the season’s first week and then to be rumored he would play week 1 for the Raiders. The football world was in a frenzy over the situation, with many wondering whether another team would take a chance on the troubled receiver. Of course they would, he is a Hall of Fame caliber player! Which franchise rose to the occasion? Who else? The New England Patriots, that’s who. Brown inked a 1-year deal with $9 million guaranteed and another $6 million in incentives with New England just hours after being released from Oakland. He was ineligible to suit up Sunday night against – oh the irony – his other former team, the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Pats have been the island for misfit toys for over a decade under the guidance of Coach Bill Belichick and future Hall of Famer, Tom Brady. Randy Moss, Darell Revis, Aqib Talib, Lagarrette Blount and Josh Gordon all came over to the Patriots and turned their careers around in one way or another. Brown will likely do the same. His talent is still through the roof and, if anyone can keep his personal nonsense at bay, it’s Bill and Tom. The Patriots, fresh off their 6th Super Bowl win under Tom and Bill, now at a team-friendly cost add to an already dynamic offense, arguably the best wideout in football and they immediately surpass the Kansas City Chiefs to become Super Bowl favorites for 2020.  The Evil Empire is back for another run as the rich got richer.
Is your fantasy team in total shambles after week 1? We hope not! The NFL season has officially completed its first weekend of action. Result: There were a ton of fantasy surprises and a couple of fantasy stinkers in week 1. We take a quick look at the top 5 best surprises of this past week and guys who may be able to help your team all season long.

1. Lamar Jackson (Quarterback, Baltimore Ravens)

The scrambling quarterback had just six rushing yards week 1, yet managed to put up about 40 fantasy points. Wait …. what? Everyone knew Lamar Jackson would be a threat to run and could be a good fantasy QB this year, but he never put up huge numbers last year like he did over the weekend. He went 27-30 with 345 passing yards and five passing TD’s on his way to a perfect quarterback rating. Granted, it was against the lowly Dolphins, but we expect Jackson to continue down this path and have a huge year as the Ravens look like a formidable team in the AFC North.

2. Sammy Watkins (Wide Receiver, Kansas City Chiefs)

The Kansas City Chiefs WR2 played like a WR1 in week 1. In fact, he played like the number 1 wideout in the league! Tyreek Hill went down with a shoulder injury early in the first quarter and Watkins was already having a big day before that. He ended his day with 9 catches for 198 receiving yards and 3 touchdowns. This was against a Jacksonville Jaguars’ defense that is supposed to be tops in the league. With over 40 fantasy points on week 1, Watkins should be a major threat for the Chiefs’ number 1 offense all season, with or without Tyreek Hill active.

3. John Ross (Wide Receiver, Cincinnati Bengals)

A year removed from running one of the fastest ‘40’ times in NFL combine history; John Ross finally had the big game everyone had been waiting for, especially the Bengals. Ross caught 7 passes for 158 yards and 2 touchdowns against a good defense. Bengals new head coach, Zac Taylor, formerly of the Sean McVay’s LA Rams staff, might have the passing attack rolling for Cincy this year. The Bengals may not be a winning team, but they could surprise people and score a bunch of points all season. Ross is available in over 85% of fantasy league formats. After a 30+ point fantasy week, you’ll have to move on the speedster quickly.

4. Danny Amendola (Wide Receiver, Detroit Lions)

Danny Amendola’s career never seems to be over. After being a major contributor to the Patriots, Amendola went to the Dolphins and the masses believed he was done. Now he’s reunited with a former Patriots’ assistant, Matt Patricia, in Detroit and is immediately in the Golden Tate role on the offense. Danny grabbed 7 passes off of Matt Stafford with a whopping 13 targets and racked up 107 yards with a touchdown. Thirteen targets are no fluke and Danny is surely still available in your league. Snag him before it is too late, he is a WR3 until further notice.

5. Jamison Crowder (Wide Receiver, New York Jets)

Jamison Crowder was one of the top slot receivers in Washington while Kirk Cousins was in his prime years. He has fallen off since Kirk left and has also battled some injuries. Crowder signed with the Jets this offseason and immediately became Sam Darnold’s security blanket. Crowder had a whopping 17 targets on week 1, hauling in 14 of those targets for 99 yards. In a PPR format, Crowder is a major player. He won’t score a ton of touchdowns this year, but he will rack up major receptions every week and is available in over half of league formats. A must add player.
