June was a big month for Lil Nas X — he released his first EP, his hit Old Town Road reached 14 weeks straight at #1 on the charts, and to cap it all off, he got a monkey off his back that was likely there for quite some time. June is also gay pride month, and that proverbial monkey was in fact the news that Lil Nas X is gay, and he announced it in a rather laid back and casual way.

Taking to social media as he often does, Lil Nas X through a series of tweets revealed and confirmed his sexuality several times using humor, wit, and sarcasm. It was a tweet on Sunday that was the groundbreaker and has over 500K likes and 100K retweets.

It read:

“Some of y’all already know, some of y’all don’t care, some of y’all not gone fwm no more. But before this month ends i want y’all to listen closely to c7osure.” The tweet was followed by a rainbow emoji, and starface emoji’s.

After seeing the tweet and going back to read the lyrics of C7osure (off of “7” his EP) it became very clear the song is 100% about his battle and need to come out of the closet — for closure of course!

Back to twitter, Lil Nas X took any jokes or slanderous comments as exactly that, and instead of trying to fight them, he embraced them, and made jokes of the jokes and slander of the slander.

“Dead*ss thought I made it obvious” he tweeted while posting the cover of his EP and focusing in on one of the large buildings in the background that was rainbow colored. He’d then go on to say “Just because I’m gay dont mean I’m not straight”. Finally to clear everything up, he let twitter know that “Old town road is literally about horses”.

Lil Nas X has to be given a lot of credit for the manner in which he conducted himself through a very challenging moment in his young life. He wasn’t seeking attention, praise, or glorification, but rather just the freedom and relief of the world knowing who he truly is. He did so with grace, humor, and respect for others opinions. The only question about Lil Nas X that should be asked now is, what music is next for the young up-and-coming artist.

“Drizzy” Drake has had quite the month of June. He has announced that he is in “album mode”, his beloved Raptors have won their first NBA Championship, and he released a two pack of songs to follow. One of those two songs, Money in the Grave, has debuted in the Hot 100, which was the icing on the cake for Drake’s June of successes. With Money in the Grave debuting as number 7 in the Hot 100, Drake’s thirty-fifth top 10 track, he breaks the tie at thirty-four with The Beatles for the second most top 10 songs all the time. Any record that is broken previously held by someone with such prestige like The Beatles is an incredible feat, and yet another accolade to add on to the long list of accomplishments in Drake’s career to date. Next up on the list for Drake is icon Madonna, whom Drake ironically has a song named after. She has 38 Top 10’s all-time, and there is little doubt that Drake will break her record in due time. Take into account the fact that he has done all this in a span of just over 10 years, one can imagine that he will not only break her record, but set a bar to be broken so high it almost seems implausible. Suffice to say, June was a pretty good month for Canadian icon Aubrey “Drake” Graham.

A Boogie wit da Hoodie has graced the air waves in heavy rotation, now he will do the same on the cover of The Source Future issue. From now and forever more, the Future issue will look at those artists in rap music that we believe will dominate the charts, business and culture of Hip-Hop for the next few years. Miley Cyrus has just released a very heartfelt apology. The 26-year-old made news after 2017 comments of why she stopped liking Hip Hop resurfaced. While it caused a stir at the time, the controversy had seemingly died down, until this month when YouTuber Kenya Wilson revisited the subject in a video entitled Miley was quick to reply, taking to the YouTube comments to respond… read full article: marieclaire.co.uk

Speaking on Capital Breakfast with Roman Kemp, Miley was questioned about the supposed “beef” between both her, Nicki, and Cardi B. Why a country singer would be apart of a controversy sandwich with the two top female hip hip artists, is beyond me, but I’m guessing it’s the good ole’ digital clout play. Lets not forget her father is on top of the charts with Old Town Road …  Miley went on to bring up her own experiences with fellow ex- Disney stars to explain what she meant by comparing the rappers … read full article: pedestrian.tv

  • Ever since controversy arose over Lil Nas X’s ” Old Town Road” being removed from the Country music charts for essentially ” not being country enough,” most of the hip-hop community has noted the clear double standard in play when outside artists dominate the urban charts with no such concerns.
  • One of the first artists to come to mind was Post Malone, whose unique approach to hip-hop has not only garnered him top billing on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop charts, but also several Grammy and Billboard Award nominations in those categories with Billboard naming ” Rockstar” the Top Rap Song for 2018.
  • Recently, Lord Jamar spoke on VladTV about the hypocrisy involved with the mainstream’s placement of Post Malone, while the Beerbongs & Bentleys artist himself was recently asked about the mixed reception to Lil Nas X, who dismissed any notion that there should be any controversy at all.

Will & Jada Pinkett Smith’s 20-year-old son Jaden was spotted soaring through a pink cloud while strapped into a wire rig on the Los Angeles set of his new music video on Thursday. The pink-haired Plastic rapper rocked a bizarre grill and a faux face tattoo of ‘Erys’ (his middle name Syre spelled backwards) scrawled under his left eye. Jaden – known for his eccentric, gender-defying sense of style – was also sporting $1,090 Louis Vuitton Archlight sneakers with his black patched-up hoodie and cargo pants … read full article: dailymail.co.uk
